The Academy Model

CLHS’s wall-to-wall academies were established to provide a structure for career exploration and project-based learning around relevant and rigorous experiences. Students begin their journey in the Freshman Academy, where a team of teachers wraps around each freshman, working to ensure preparedness socially, emotionally, and academically. Students explore their strengths and interests through career cruising, surveys/inventories, and business partner relationships.

As sophomores, students choose which academy best suits them--Industry, Technology & Innovation (ITI) Academy or the Health & Human Services (HHS) Academy and take courses in the pathway of their interest:

ITI Pathways HHS Pathways
Engineering Technology
Innovative Art & Design
Business, Commerce & Entrepreneurship
Digital Design & Communication
Health & Wellness
First Responders
Law & Justice
Public Service

Through the development of small learning communities centered around these two academies, our students are exposed to a multitude of careers, industry skills, and potential employers through classroom speakers, site visits, job shadowing, and internships while earning early college credit and nationally recognized industry certifications.
